My name is Emily Mary Hogarth and I’d like to welcome you to my new website.
As an Edinburgh girl, whenever I require some additional inspiration I love to head off to the Highlands for an infusion of the great Scottish outdoors. There, ideally relaxing on a carpet of purple heather, it is always easy to remember ones love for great design. There, the colours of nature are just waiting to be returned to the studio.
I studied my BA in Textiles at Edinburgh College of Art. Graduating in 2007 with Honors, I decided to continue straight into a Masters in printed Textiles in 2008. During my Masters I began the fusion of my love of colour and storytelling to try to ‘make the everyday magical’. Since graduating I’ve worked with Jasper Conran at Debenhams, Medici Cards, Tigerprint, and Studio Roam.
I work mainly with paper cuts. I love the combination of boldness and delicacy they bring to designs. Through their flexibility they can be stand-alone pieces of art or translated onto a printed medium (t-shirt / fabric / cards).
Currently I work from my Studio in Edinburgh (part of the Coburg House Studio group) where I work mainly on commissions.
